Requirements

Freshman-Admission Requirements
1. Arrange for SAT/TOEFL* or ACT to be sent
*Arrange for TOEFL scores to be sent if your academic history shows completion of high school in a country whose native language is other than English.
2. Submit High School Transcript
Accredited High Schools
Applicants who have graduated from a high school accredited by either the Texas Education Agency or the appropriate Regional Association of Schools and Colleges will be admitted if they meet the requirements outlined below.
I. Automatic Admission Criteria1
Applicants from accredited public or private high schools2 in the state of Texas who rank among the top 10% of the student's high school graduating class and who apply by the published deadlines will be admitted.

II. Regular Admission Criteria
Applicants from accredited public or private high schools who meet one or more of the criteria listed below will be admitted to the University of Houston. All applicants under Section II must complete the high school academic core requirements with a GPA of 2.50 or higher and submit test scores from Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT). Applicants will be considered for admission if they:
* ranked among the top 25% of the student's high school graduating class; or
* earned a grade-point average of 3.20 or better in the high school academic core requirements; or
* achieved a combined SAT Verbal and Math score of 1100 or higher on an ACT composite score of 24 or higher; or
* earned a combination of grade-point average and cumulative college test score based on the University of Houston Eligibility Index listed below.
