Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

Students must complete a total of 130 to 134 semester credit hours, depending on the major department. Semester credit hours required include a 42 hour university core, mathematics, physics, chemistry, non-major courses within the college of engineering, and major courses. Students must earn a grade of "C-" or better for credit in any mathematics, science, or engineering courses that apply toward the bachelor's degree. Students must earn a 2.00 minimum cumulative and major grade point average in all courses attempted.

Master's Degree Requirements

Master's with Thesis--GPA requirement: 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Credit hours required for degree: 30. Thesis may be completed in absentia.
Master's with Courses only--GPA requirement: 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Credit hours required for degree: 30 to 36. Some programs require a design project.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

GPA requirement: 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Minimum credit hours required for degree: 52. Dissertation may be completed in absentia. Master's degree in engineering not required. A minimum of 52 hours, 22 hours of course work and 30 hours of research and dissertation, beyond the master's requirements is necessary. A qualifying examination is required in all degree programs. There is a nine-month full-time residency requirement.
