Admissions/Transfers

Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

A. ACT score of 19 or 900 and above on the SAT,or
B. Minimum grade point average of 2.25 on a 4.00 system and
C. Must pass the Tennessee Proficiency Examination, and
D. Must have completed 14 High School Tennessee Board of Regents Unit requirements.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

Same as University requirements.
All engineering students who wish to take upper division engineering (juinor and senior level) courses, must take and pass the engineering entrance examination with a minimum score of 75% on each part (chemistry, mathematics and physics) of the examination.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

TOEFL score of 500-a minimum acceptance level of performance on the Test of English as a Foreign Language, or 80% on the Michigan Test in addition to University requirements

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

Same as resident students plus Minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.00 system.

Residency Requirements

A minimum of 24 of the last 30 degree hours in residence at Tennessee State University.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

All transfer applicants must:
(1) Submit two official transcripts from each college/univrersity attended.
(2) Submit an official AAPP report, if applicable
(3) Submit official ACT or SAT scores.
(4) Have a GPA equivalent to TSU's retention standards.
(5) Have a minimum 2.50 GPA for out of state college/university.
