Student Design Projects Description

Through participation in the FSAE Car Project within the School of Engineering, students conceive, design, and build a small, formula-style racing car for bi-annual entry in the Formula SAE competition. The design is to be based on engineering principles and quantitative methodologies. This popular project provides students with a realistic experience in design, teamwork and leadership.

Brown Building Society (BBS) is an organization dedicated to facilitating and promoting undergraduate extracurricular building projects. BBS organizes a variety of group building projects of varying complexity and duration. These projects involve a broad range of disciplines and interests.

Brown Space Engineering Team (BSE) group is designing and building a nano satellite that will be launched as part of a NASA initiative. The satellite, called EQUiSat, is being constructed by undergraduate engineering students utilizing a modest budget and only off-the-shelf products. Once launched, EQUiSat will emit a flashing ray of light visible by the naked eye from urban areas, and transmit a stream of information audible by any HAM radio user.
