Entrance Requirements and Recommendations


Graduates of accredited high schools are required to have the following minimum credentials: a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), a composite ACT score of 21 or SAT composite of 980. In addition, all applicants need to have completed at least 13 high school units in a pre-college curriculum (one unit=one year).
Four units of English/communication/language arts, with 3 units containing a substantial writing component; this requirement may also be met by completing three units in English/communication/language arts, plus two. units of the same foreign language.
Three units of mathematics, which must include a college prep Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry sequence.
Three units of science; at least one unit must be from the physical sciences: physics, chemistry, or a college prep physical science course. The remaining two units may be from any combination of biological, life, physical, or earth/space science courses.
3 units of cultural context selected from the behavioral or social sciences, visual or performing arts, humanities, or foreign languages.
UW welcomes home-schooled students and students with GED credentials. Students may also be admitted with conditions or by exception. Contact the Office of Admissions for more information.


Taking Algebra II, Geometry, or a higher level math course is recommended during your senior year.
