Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

The College of Engineering requires completion of 120-132 semester credit hours depending on degree program with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in all courses. In addition, engineering students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all engineering courses taken at UW. A grade of "C" or better must be earned in all engineering science courses that are prerequisite to any required engineering science course. Students in the traditional engineering disciplines must complete the Fundamentals of Engineering exam prior to graduation. Other requirements are listed in the Undergraduate Bulletin.

Master's Degree Requirements

Master's with thesis - GPA requirements: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Credit hours required for thesis-based degree: 30, or 31 hours for Plan B non-thesis degrees. Thesis may be completed in absentia. Residency requirement: 2 semesters. Other requirements are listed in the Graduate Bulletin.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

GPA Requirement: 3.0. Credit hours required for degree: 72. Dissertation may be completed in absentia. Master's degree in engineering not required. No foreign language requirement. Other requirements are listed in the Graduate Bulletin.
