Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

The College of Engineering was established in 1961, although the first engineering courses were offered in 1922. The Bachelor of Science degree is offered in seven major fields of engineering. All programs are ABET accredited. At the graduate level, the Master of Science degree is offered in five fields including bioengineering as well as a Master of Engineering degree in manufacturing and design. A joint doctoral degree in engineering science (Bioengineering; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Structural Engineering) with the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) is also offered. The College of Engineering offers undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering in Tbilisi, Georgia in partnership with Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, and Georgian Technological University. In addition, the College provides other study abroad programs, international internships, and faculty-led programs in Germany, Poland and Italy. Also offered is the Engineering Internship Program which seeks to place students in internships with local industry partners where they will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience while they study. In addidtion there are many active student organizations with proven records of winning many national and international student design contests.
