Admissions Information

Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Admission to the College is dependent on departmental resources and graduate enrollment at any point in time. Prospective students are encouraged to contact departmental graduate advisors directly for further information.

Graduate Admission to an Engineering Department

Recommendation for regular admission from the appropriate dept. is required once university level admission requirements have been met.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Chronological outline of previous college-level work; authorized university records; B.S. degree or equivalent with "B" (3.0 gpa) or better average; certification of availability of funds to meet all costs; GRE test scores; TOEFL score of 550 (or 213 if computer based).

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

Admission decisions are made on a department by department basis, depending on faculty and space availability as well as enrollment at that time.

Residency Requirements

None for M. S. degree. For Ph.D., one full academic year of continuous residence (2 consecutive semesters) as a full time student must be earned at LSU after the "Program of Study" is submitted and approved.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

A transfer student may transfer as many as 12 sem hours taken at a U. S. institution toward an M.S. degree, but cannot exceed 1/3 of the coursework required for a particular degree. These courses must be approved by dept chair and the Graduate School.
