Admissions Information

Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Complete Portland State University's graduate application in addition the following documents are required:

Copies of your transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended

Proof of English Language Proficiency through the submission of TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE-Academic exam scores (for applicants whose first language is not English)

Graduate Admission to an Engineering Department

In addition to meeting general University admission requirements applicants are required to have a baccalaureate degree in engineering or related discipline, background in probability/statistics, computer programming, differential equations and four years of professional experience. Past academic and professional performance is judged for acceptance. Check the individual department websites for specific requirements.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Must score 550 or greater on the TOEFL.

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

No different than residents.

Residency Requirements

In a master's program, a minimum of two-thirds of the required credits in courses must be earned on the PSU campus. In a doctoral program, a minimum of three consecutive terms must be spent in full-time residence.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

No difference.
