Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Strong high school record with four years math, science and English; 2-3 years foreign language plus social studies, including U.S. history. Advanced honors and AP courses preferred for best preparation. One science should be chemistry. Physics strongly recommended. Most emphasis on high school record; average students have 4.20 - 4.66 GPA (weighted). SAT or ACT not as heavily emphasized.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

CODA requires completion of freshman courses with "C" or better. GPA requirements vary by department, with 3.0 sufficient for most departments except Biomedical Engineering, which requires individual review of all matriculation applications.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Additional TOEFL for students whose native language is not English. Minimum score 80 (internet based) or 550 (paper based).

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

Same as resident students.

Residency Requirements

BS candidates must earn at least 48 of their last 60 hours of credit at NCSU while enrolled as degree candidate.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

1) 30 or more hours of transferable college-level courses, 2) 3.0 (or higher for some departments) cumulative GPA, 3) college level English composition course (four semester hours) and/or a second college level English composition course (additional three hours if first English was three hours), 4) college level chemistry course with lab, 5) Calculus I, 6) Calculus II, 7) a 3.0 GPA or higher in the last two mathematics courses taken, 8) calculus-based physics with lab
