Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a prescribed course of study involving 126 to 133 semester credits with at least a 2.00 overall GPA and a 2.00 GPA engineering, math and physical science classes. Students are also required to take the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination.

Master's Degree Requirements

The College of Engineering offers M.S. degrees in computer science, and biomedical, civil, chemical, computer, electrical, mechanical, and materials engineering. These programs require 24 credits of instruction and 6 credits of thesis. Nine graduate credits completed prior to admission may be applied toward the degree. A 32-credit non thesis option is available in some disciplines.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

The Ph.D. is offered in biomedical, chemical, civil and environmental, computer, electrical, mechanical and materials engineering. A candidacy examination is required to enter a Ph.D. program. The Ph.D. degree requires the ability to design and complete a significant program of original research by preparing a dissertation and passing a final examination. Each program requires 72 credits, including 48 credits of graduate-level course work. A maximum of 24 credits of prior graduate study with a grade of A or B may be applied toward the satisfaction of Ph.D. requirements.
