Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Entrance requirements: SAT (recommended verbal plus mathematics plus writing score-1650 or higher), ACT (recommended score-25 or higher), high school courses-mathematics (4 years, including algebra, geometry, trig, pre-calculus), physics (1 year), chemistry (1 year).
Entrance recommendations: high school courses - mathematics (4 years), English (4 years), social studies (3 years), sciences (4 years). Advanced Placement examinations may result in advanced standing.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

At the time of admission to the university. Admission to accelerated BS/MS and BS/MEng degree programs offered during second or third year to applicants with a GPA of 3.2 to 3.4 or higher in courses completed at RIT depending upon the department offering the BS/MS option.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) may be submitted in place of normally required SAT or ACT entrance examinations. Minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper version) or 213 (computer version) required for admission. All other admission requirements are the same as used for American applicants.

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

Admission requirements are the same for resident and non-resident students.

Residency Requirements

At least 30 credits must be earned through completion of RIT courses. (Completion of residency requirements does not require that the student live in campus housing.)

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Admission to Engineering at the beginning of any quarter. Minimum 3.3 GPA. Must meet minimum number of mathematics and science units at high school or college level prior to admission (i.e. mathematics through pre-calculus, chemistry, and physics).
