Admissions Information

Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Applications are generally accepted for the fall quarter. To be considered for financial support, the general admissions and fellowship application deadline is January 15, but programs may impose earlier deadlines. Applicants should keep in mind that it is always to their advantage to apply as early as possible. All necessary applications and information on graduate programs and application deadlines are available from the graduate programs.

A completed application consists of an online application form, a supplemental departmental application when applicable, a statement of purpose, three letters of recommendation, GRE scores, transcripts, and an application fee of $105 ($125 for international applicants). A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or the equivalent degree from other countries) as well as an undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0 are required.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

International students must satisfy the application/ entrance requirements for domestic students and provide additional application materials, including TOEFL exam scores where applicable. IETLS scores are also accepted. Official or certified copies of all transcripts should be provided in both English and in the original language. If English is not your native language or the language of instruction, you are required to submit scores from the TOEFL examination. The minimum score required for admissibility at UC Davis is 550 for the paper exam, 213 for the computer-based exam, or 80 for the internet-based exam. The score report is required before application processing begins. For international graduate admission processing, there is a non refundable graduate application fee of $125.00. In order to meet requirements for entry into the United States, applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to cover the cost of their education and obtain visas for entry and study. Residency Requirements

For both the Master of Science and Master of Engineering degrees, at least three full-time quarters in residence are required. For the Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Engineering degrees, students must be in residence for a minimum of six full-time quarters.
