Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

There are eight general requirements which all students must meet in order to earn a bachelor's degree from Cal Poly. Students must be formally admitted and must matriculate in order to earn a degree. For the Bachelor of Science degrees (Engineering programs), students must complete 180-199 units of coursework, earn at least a 2.0 GPA, complete the USCP requirement, the GE requirements, demonstrate competency in writing skills (GWR), must satisfactorily complete a senior project, meet academic residence requirements, and request a graduation evaluation from the Office of Academic Records. http://www.academicprograms.calpoly.edu/content/academicpolicies/policies-undergrad/bacc-requirements.

Master's Degree Requirements

Each student shall file an approved formal study plan consistent with published program requirements, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better in all courses on the formal study plan, maintain satisfactory scholarship and professional standards, satisfy the graduation writing requirement, and be formally advanced to candidacy before enrolling for the culminating experience. Each student shall successfully complete a culminating experience (thesis, project and/or comprehensive examination) and complete all graduate work within in a seven year period. http://www.academicprograms.calpoly.edu/content/academicpolicies/masters-requirements.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

Cal Poly does not offer a PhD program.
