Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

Minimum of 180 credits to include at least 20 credits of humanities and social sciences, a 5 credit composition course, and at least 7 credits of additional writing intensive course work. All engineering programs have requirements for lower division mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals courses. Additionally, each program has an upper division core requirement and a range of technical electives. All course work must be completed with a minimum of a 2.00 cumulative GPA. Some programs have additional GPA requirements specific to the course work taken in the department.

Master's Degree Requirements

Minimum required credits vary from 36 credits to 45 credits. A minimum of 30 credits must be earned at the University of Washington. Course work must be completed with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Doctoral Degree Requirements

Degree requirements are different for each engineering department. In general, a minimum of 90 credits (of which 60 are Univ. of Washington credits); Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; Qualifying exam; General exam; Serve as a Teaching Assistant; Research; Dissertation; and Final exam.
