Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Freshman applicants to The Albert Nerken School of Engineering submit their applications by January 9, through the Common Application. Once the application is submitted, the student should complete the essay questions (Part ll) available on the Common Application. All factors of an applicant's record, the high school grade point average, strength of courses taken in school, SAT I or ACT test scores, SAT Subject test scores in Math and either Chemistry or Physics, essay responses, extra curricular activities, and letter of recommendation, are factored into the admissions decision. Independent, mature, focused students who can manage their time very well tend to be most successful at Cooper Union and are highly sought after.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

Applicants are admitted directly to an engineering program.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Same as for U.S. Domestic students except a TOEFL of 100 is required on the internet-based exam.

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

Same as for U.S.Domestic students.

Residency Requirements

The candidate for a bachelor's degree, must have been enrolled for a minimum of four semesters at The Cooper Union as a full-time student. Also, the candidate must have an overall GPA of 3.0.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Transfer applications should be submitted before January 9, of the year for which admission is sought. If space is available, they are admitted on the basis of prior college records.
