Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Concordia University is dedicated to excellence in its programs with equal emphasis on undergraduate teaching, research and graduate education. Concordia has one of the largest engineering schools in Canada, with a total of 4,760 Undergraduate Students enrolled in one of its 8 programs with co-op options. The Faculty has over 3,370 Graduate Students and 220 full-time Faculty members.

The Faculty has innovative programs and research. Its newest unit provides interdisciplinary research and graduate training available in the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering (CIISE).

The Faculty is home to the Concordia's Institute for Aerospace Design and Innovation (CIADI), a collaborative endeavour with the Aerospace industry. It hosts over 100 international exchange students per year.

The Faculty is home to the Solar Buildings Research Network (SBRN). The vision of the Solar Buildings Research Network is the development of the solar-optimized building as an integrated advanced technological system that approaches net-zero energy consumption while being cost effective and comfortable. It brings together 24 Canadian researchers from ten universities to develop the solar-optimized homes and commercial buildings of the future. For more information, please visit the network's website:
