Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements
The degree of Bachelor of Engineering (B.ENG.) is awarded in Building, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace or Software Engineering. It requires completion of 120 credits (4 years of full-time academic study). Students lacking the required background are admitted to a pre-engineering year, consisting of courses in math, physics, chemistry and the social sciences and humanities. These requirements are in addition to the regular program requirements. All programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).

The degree of Bachelor of Computer Science (B.Comp.Sc.)is awarded with options in Computer Applications, Information Systems, Software Systems, Computer Systems, or a joint major with the Faculty of Arts & Science in Mathematics & Statistics or a joint major with the Faculty of Fine Arts in Computation Arts. It requires completion of 90 credits/3 years of full-time study.

Students lacking the required background are admitted into the Extended Credit Program (120 credits/4 years) or the Mature Entry Program (108 credits/3.5 academic years) and must complete all missing prerequisite courses as part of their program of study.

Students in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science must maintain a last annual WGPA of 2.00 to remain in good standing. Students in conditional or failed standing are required to repeat a half to all of the D grades obtained while on probation.

Master's Degree Requirements
Engineering Programs: Completion of a minimum of 45 credits for both the Non-Thesis Option (M.ENG.) and Thesis Option (M.A.Sc.) which includes a thesis.
Computer Science program: Completion of a minimum of 45 credits for both the Thesis Option (M.Comp.Sc.) which includes a thesis and the Non-Thesis Option (M.Ap.Comp.Sc.) that consists of course work only.

To remain in good standing and be eligible to graduate, students must have no failures on record and a cumulative WGPA of at least 3.00 based on all courses credited towards the degree.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

Completion of a minimum of 90 credits in total, including a minimum of 12 credits in course work, a comprehensive examination, presentation of the doctoral research proposal and thesis defense and evaluation. To remain in good standing and be eligible to graduate students must have no failures on record, a maximum of one grade below B and a cumulative WGPA of at least 3.00 based on a minimum of 8 credits.
