Prospective engineering students are admitted to engineering programs at the time of admission to the university.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

There are no special departmental admission requirements beyond the general university admission requirements.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), or 80 (internet-based test).

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

No separate or additional requirements for non-resident domestic students.

Residency Requirements

All students must complete at least 32 hours from Miami University, including 12 of the final 20 hours required for the bachelor's degree.

The application fee may be submitted along with the online application using a credit card or electronic funds transfer from a bank account, or through the mail with a check or money order made payable to Miami University. If the application fee would cause financial hardship, please send a fee waiver request to Miami also grants fee waivers to U.S. Veterans and Military Personnel and students participating in designated transfer events or programs. Applicants may select those options when filling out the application.
•Midterm Report/Recommendation
For students in their first term of college, we encourage you to submit a mid-term report showing your current grades. If you have attended longer than one term, you may choose to supplement your application by having a college instructor submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. The optional mid-term report and the letter of recommendation can be emailed to or faxed to 513-529-0681.
•Official High School Transcript
Official transcripts must be submitted by the high school. Miami encourages high schools to submit documents electronically. We currently accept electronic transcripts via eSCRIP-SAFE and Docufide. Faxed transcripts are not accepted. For a complete list of required documents for home school applicants, please see Home School Curriculum.
•ACT/SAT Scores
These scores may be included on your official high school transcript or sent directly from the testing center. You can request submission of these scores to Miami by contacting ACT or the College Board (SAT). Miami's ACT code is 3294; the SAT code is 1463. If you have been out of high school for more than five years or have already completed 20 or more transfer credits, test scores are not required. Applicants that have submitted their transfer application may see an outstanding requirement item of ACT/SAT Scores on their status page. This item will be waived upon receiving your college transcript and verifying that you meet the criteria above.
•Official Institutional Academic Transcript
A transcript must be sent directly from each college/university you have attended since high school. Veterans and Military Personnel must submit documentation for alternative credit. Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy may send these transcripts electronically
