Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

Auburn University has been offering engineering courses since 1872 and has a long and rich tradition of excellence in engineering education with 12 undergraduate and 10 graduate degree options, and the only ABET accredited wireless engineering program in the nation. The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, the state's largest and most prestigious engineering program, produces more than one third of Alabama's engineering graduates and is consistently ranked in the top 50 nationally in its undergraduate, graduate and graduate online programs, as well as in its research efforts.

The college is recognized as a major contributor to the region's economic development and industrial competitiveness. A state-of-the-art MRI Research Center with 3T and 7T scanners joins established infrastructure and transportation programs such as the National Center for Asphalt Technology, with additional research emphasis in energy and environment; cyber security and information technology; biomedical and pharmaceutical engineering; engineering materials and nanotechnology; and advanced manufacturing.
