Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

A Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree requires between 126 and 128 credit hours and a Bachelor of Science degree requires a minimum of 120 credit hours. Students must maintain at least a 2.0/4.0 GPA in technical classes to be allowed to enter the junior year. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0 is required to graduate.

Master's Degree Requirements

Master's degrees may be earned under either Plan A, which requires not fewer than 15 credits and a thesis, or Plan B, which requires not fewer than 24 credits and a final examination. The Master of Engineering degree, on the other hand, is a degree designed for practicing engineers and requires 30 credits and is offered off campus.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

24 credit hours are required for the degree. A Master's degree in Engineering is not required. A 3.0 GPA is required. Students shall be required to have competent reading knowledge of at least one foreign language appropriate to the general area of study or at least 6 credits of advanced work in a related or supporting area. At least two consecutive semesters of full-time study must be completed in residence. Additional requirements include the general examination, dissertation prospectus, dissertation and abstract, and the final examination.
