Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

Established in 1985, the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is the newest college at NIU. The Engineering Building is over 125,000 square feet in size, including 29 laboratories furnished with state-of-the-art equipment valued at more than $15 million dollars. The college offers one of the best undergraduate experiences in engineering education. The college has four departments: Electrical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Technology. All departments offer B.S. and M.S. programs. The college offers small classes in professional courses; faculty with doctoral degrees (a majority with industrial experience and professional licensures); cooperative education and internship opportunities; concurrent engineering concepts starting with the freshman year; all teaching by professors.

CEET also provides students with Corporate Scholars Mentorship programs, Funded Senior Design opportunities, over 20 active student groups, and dedicated living spaces for engineering students.
