Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

OSS (ONTARIO SECONDARY SCHOOL) APPLICANTS

Application fees (CDN$):
- Base fee is $150 for initial three program choices.
- There is a surcharge of $10 if the mailing address provided is outside of Canada.
- For each additional program choice above three, the fee per additional choice is $50.

Transcripts:
All marks are automatically submitted from the Ontario highschools directly to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC), and then submitted electronically to the universities.

OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) is required for enrollment.

English Language Requirements:
If the applicant's first language is not English and the applicant has not been taught in English Medium for a minimum of 4 consecutive years prior to the proposed start of study at the University of Waterloo, the applicant must complete and obtain a minimum score on one of the accepted English language tests.

NOTE: for Software Engineering, computer programming experience is required.

Biomedical Engineering - individual selection from the mid 90s
Chemical Engineering - individual selection from the low 90s
Civil Engineering - individual selection from the high 80s

Environmental Engineering - individual selection from the mid 80s
Geological Engineering - individual selection from the mid 80s

Mechatronics Engineering - individual selection from the low 90s

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

NOTE: Competition for admission for students applying on an international study permit (visa) is intense.

Admission requirements are the same as for domestic applicants. (visa students can be OSS or NON-OSS).

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

NON-OSS APPLICANTS
(includes any student not enrolled full time in an Ontario Secondary School, including University transfer applications, mature students, out-of-province Canadian applicants, International applicants)

Transcripts:
Mid-term transcripts required by March 31st for consideration for Fall entry. Final transcripts required as soon as they are available in the summer to confirm admission. Non-OSS applicants are responsible for ensuring transcripts are received by the deadlines mentioned above.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Transfer Student information

There are usually very few spaces open for admission beyond first year into most of our programs. Students need to have an academic background and technical work experience equivalent to the academic and co-op work-term experience of the class they are trying to join.
