Entrance Requirements and Recommendations

Requirements

Students may be admitted to the university as first time freshmen or as transfer students. Students meeting published admissions criteria are offered Guaranteed Admission. Students who are not offered Guaranteed Admission may be considered for Admission by Committee.

Guaranteed Freshman Admission Requirements for in-state students:

Completion of the Louisiana Board of Regents high school core curriculum and a mathematics ACT score of at least 19 (460 Math SAT) or an English ACT score of at least 18 (450 Verbal/Critical Reasoning SAT) AND EITHER 1) high school GPA of 2.5 or higher using an unweigthted 4.0 scale OR 2) ACT composite score of at least 23 (SAT 1050 - combined Math & Verbal/Critical Reasoning with at least a 2.0 GPA OR 3) rank in the top 25% of the high school graduating class and at least a 2.0 GPA.

Guaranteed Transfer Admission requirements:

Degree-seeking students who have earned at least 18 non-developmental semester hours and who are 1) eligible to return to the most recent institution attended, 2) completion of or eligible to enroll in college level English and mathematics courses and 3) have a cumulative college GPA of 2.25 excluding developmental/remedial courses.

Degree-seeking students with fewer than 18 non-developmental semester hours must be 1) eligible to return to the most recent institution attended, 2) eligible for Guaranteed Admission under the freshman criteria listed, and 3) have a cumulative college GPA of 2.25 excluding developmental/remedial courses.

Admission by Committee:

Students who do not meet the criteria for Guaranteed Admission as a freshman or as a transfer student will be considered individually for Admission by Committee.
