Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

The degree requirements for each engineering program are consistent with the criteria established by ABET. (The College determines the acceptability of lower level courses transferred from community or junior colleges in the region by formal coordination with each of the institutions and ensuring that they set the same standards as the established course syllabi consistent with those used by UTA.)

Master's Degree Requirements

The degree requirements for each engineering program vary with degree program.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is the highest degree offered by the College of Engineering. The degree is awarded only for academic work of distinction through which the student demonstrates superior scholarship and a capacity for original work. All departments and programs have requirements for a high level of scholarly achievement that must be met by successful doctoral candidates. In all doctoral programs, the basic requirements are that a student (1) attain mastery of a field of knowledge as determined by the appropriate Committee on Graduate Studies and demonstrated in a general examination, and (2) give evidence of a capacity to complete a significant program of original research by preparation of a dissertation and presentation of an oral defense of the dissertation.
