Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

Bachelor's degree. A GPA of 2.0/4.0 is required for graduation. B.S. programs in engineering require 128 semester hour credits. A program in cooperative education is available in all college curricula. Five-year programs permit a student to earn a B.S. degree in a field of engineering and a B.A. or a B.S. degree from the Colleges of Liberal Arts & Sciences or Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. Computer Science/Math and Computer Science/Statistics B.S. degrees are granted by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Master's Degree Requirements

Requirements vary by department program,all students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Most departments offer thesis (32 credit hours) or non-thesis (36 credit hours) master’s degrees.For links to department program information, visit: http://engineering.illinois.edu/academics/graduate

Doctoral Degree Requirements

Doctorate: Minimum GPA varies by department, but all students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher Students must complete: (a) preliminary examination, (b) final examination and dissertation. Some programs require students to have an MS degree (32 hours) completed first while others are directing admitted upon completing a BS degree into a PhD program (96 hours)
