Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

Credit hour requirements for the Bachelor's Degree program vary by major; from 123 to 133 credit hours are required for graduation. Common mathematics, physics, chemistry, freshman writing, and computer programming courses are required. In addition, distribution courses in engineering and liberal studies, approved electives, and courses within the chosen major are needed for graduation. Two terms of physical education must be taken in the freshman year, and students must demonstrate proficiency in swimming to satisfy a university requirement.

Master's Degree Requirements

Some fields offer a terminal Master's of Science degree. This requires completion of a thesis. The student's progress is judged by a faculty committee. There is a one year minimum residency requirement. The Master of Engineering is a professional degree program that requires 30 credit hours of graduate level technical courses. A project, not a thesis, is required for the Master of Engineering degree. There is a one semester residency requirement.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

Credit hour and minimum GPA requirements for the Ph.D. program vary by field. Completion of an advanced course of study and qualifying exams are required, with progress judged by a faculty committee. A minimum residency of six semesters is required. A dissertation is also required.
