Other Student Support Programs

The College of Technology has a commitment to providing academic support for the retention and graduation of students in our college. Support begins for students during New Student Orientation. All new freshman students are required to attend a two-day orientation. On the second day of orientation students visit with their academic advisors for an introduction to academic policies, procedures, and support services, as well as have the opportunity to enroll in courses for the upcoming semester. Once students have matriculated the college and the university offers a multitude of academic support. Students are expected to visit with their academic advisor once a semester to ensure persistence and timely graduation. Students are referred to campus resources such as the Office of Students with Disabilities, Learning Support Services, Center for Academic Support and Assessment (CASA), and the Writing Center for tutoring and academic accommodations. The College of Technology Student Success Program (COT-SSP), is a new student success initiative designed to impact the persistence of first time in college (FTIC) students. The program is currently voluntary for students and introduced during new student orientation. The COT-SSP offers new students increased interaction with advisors and faculty, as well as access to specially designed workshops to impact the academic success of this cohort.
