Engineering Technology College Description and Special Characteristics

Engineering Technology (ET) is the profession in which knowledge of the applied mathematical and natural sciences gained by higher education, experience, and practice is devoted to the application of engineering principles and the implementation of technological advances for the benefit of humanity. Engineering Technology education for the professional focuses primarily on analyzing, applying, implementing and improving existing and emerging technologies and is aimed at preparing graduates for the practice of engineering that is close to the product improvement, manufacturing, and engineering operational functions.

The department offers four Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees, Master of Science (M.S.) degrees, and several minors associated with fields of study within the department. Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Power Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology. These programs have been accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (formerly the Technology Accreditation Commission) of ABET. A Bachelor of Science degree is also offered in Biotechnology.

The Engineering Technology Department offers a Master of Science degrees with concentrations in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Network Communications, Biotechnology, and Computational Health Informatics. The curricula of these majors are designed to give students a strong understanding of the principles of the fields of study and a one-of-a-kind experiential learning opportunity in modern laboratory facilities.

Programs in Construction Management (BS and MS) and Computer Information Systems are offered through the Department Construction Management and Department of Information and Logistics Technology, respectively.
