Entrance Requirements and Recommendations

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

To be considered for admission to the University of California, minimum requirements include:

Complete a minimum of 15 college-preparatory courses (A-G courses), with at least 11 finished prior to the beginning of the senior year.

(A. History/Social Science 2 years, B. English 4 years, C. Math 3 years, D. Lab Science 2 years, E. Foreign Language 2 years, F. College Preparatory Electives 1 year, G. Visual and Performing Arts, 1 year.)
Earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better (3.4 for nonresident) in these courses with no grade lower than a C.

Examination requirement: ACT Plus Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test by December of the senior year.

Recommendations

Recommended are 18 A-G courses, (A. History/Social Science 2 years, B. English 4 years, C. Math 4 years, D. Lab Science 3 years, E. Foreign Language 3 years, F. College Preparatory Electives 1 year, G. Visual and Performing Arts 1 year)
