Admissions Information

Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Two official copies of all previous transcripts for all colleges and universities attended, including junior and senior college and graduate transcripts (if transcripts are in a foreign language, certified English translations are required in addition to the original documents), application fee of $100. Minimum GPA for admission is 3.0 on a 4.0 and completion of a bachelor's degree before registration in the graduate program. GRE general test is required. Three letters of recommendation and documented proficiency in English for international students. Deadlines for application are 10/1 for the spring semester and 1/15 for the fall semester.

Graduate Admission to an Engineering Department

Admission is based on the decision of the department to which application is made. Each department arrives at its decision based on criteria which may be over and above the minimum requirements stated above under "General Admission to the College of Engineering."

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

If transcripts are in a foreign language, certified English translations are required in addition to the original documents. Documented proficiency in English by passing either the TOEFL or IELTS tests (minimum score 550(paper) 213(computer). For iBT(internet) the score is 80 for general admission and 90 for admission to doctoral programs.
Verification of adequate finances to fund their education and living expenses must be submitted before immigration documents will be sent to admitted students.

One year for the Ph.D.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

For the M.S. degree: Student may transfer up to twelve (12) credits which carry grades of B or better. The credits must have been earned less than five years before admisison is granted, and must not have been used for credit at the other institution.
For the Ph.D. degree: Same as for the M.S. degree except number of credits is decided by the department to which application is being made.
