*ASABE Annual International Meeting in Orlando, FL.
*AGCO National Student Design Competition by designing an engineering project useful to agriculture.
*Fountain Wars Competition where students design, build and test their entry during a limited 120 minute time period.
* International 1/4 Scale Tractor Design Competition. Students design and build a utility or recreational pulling tractor that is presented and demonstrated at competition.Tractors have a performance demonstration comprising three tractor pulls, maneuverability course, and a durability course.

*AIChE National Student Design Competition.
*A team of three students received the national award for incorporation of safety into their AIChE National Student Design Competition entry.
*Seniors competed as teams in a plant-wide design project sponsored by Phillips 66.

*The American Society of Civil Engineers Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge Regional Competition. Teams engage over 25 students, freshmen through seniors with teamwork, project management and how to apply classroom skills to a full-scale design and build challenge. The teams finished well and are already preparing for next year.
*American Society of Civil Engineers/Forest Projects Society National Timber Bridge Competition. OSU finished first and second nationally in the best overall design for below deck truss and above deck truss entries and in the top three in numerous other categories.

*Object Recognition System
The objective of this project was to develop an "object recognition" module for a robotic user interface Automated Test System (ATS) that is used to test medical device software running on various sizes of tablets including smart phones.The system is capable of recording automated test scripts via a record-and-playback mechanism. This is a continuing project based on enhancing the capabilities of an industrially sponsored project successfully undertaken last semester.
*Reaction Wheel Pendulum Control Experiment
The objective of this project was to develop a control systems experiment involving a desktop version of the Segway self-balancing, electric vehicle. The objective of this project is to develop a control systems experiment involving a reaction wheel inverted pendulum. This experiment would become part of the Take Home Labs program (
*Urban Long Endurance Board
This project is the construction of a skate board motorized system. The system must enable the transportation of a human rider at reasonable speeds and for long duration.
*Energy Harvesting Node
The main idea is to design and construct a sensor node capable of specific functions and powered by harvesting energy, such as solar panel.
*Ranging System for Golf Cart
This project utilized a laser sensing system to map the environment of an autonomous golf cart.
*Secure Video Capture System
The process is to create a system that snaps a picture and stores the picture in memory securely. A good system will enable a security protocol, hopefully, with military-grade encryption so that any system cannot be possible compromised by a user or thief.
*Trailer Back-up Warning System
This project will develop a back-up warning system based on ultrasound sensing. As the trailer is being backed up, the warning system will give audio cue indicating the distance to the obstacle.Some trucks set off audio alarm when backing up, but the alarm is only for warning the people in the nearby and does not work as a distance-indicator.
*Mercury Remote Robot
This project entails the design and construction of a robot capable of competing in the 2016 Mercury Remote Robot Challenge. A Mercury robot is a system capable of being operated at very long range and capable of performing a mission.
*Upgrade MAGE (Mobile Active Gaming Environment)
Provide a basis of hardware and software tools which allow students to engage in a creative process of making devices that have a tangible end user experience.
*MHz range Gaussmeter
Develop a portable unit that can measure and display the magnetic field strength of an alternating magnetic field operating at up to 10 MegaHertz. There is an increasing need of a convenient and portable device to measure the field strength of alternating magnetic field operating at higher frequency, for application/calibration purposes in magnetic induction hyperthermia and magnetically mediated imaging.
*Neuron action potential emulator
Develop an electronic circuit unit for emulating the passive and active electrical properties of a neuron. The device has an input and an output. This device can be used for classroom demo of basic neuro-electricity.

*Senior design team placed first in the Regional Food Bank of OK and competed in the national competition in Nashville.
*An IEM sophomore placed third for his civil engineering company project which he completed with Alpha Testing.
*IEM student team won first place in a worldwide student simulation contest hosted by Simio.
*Students have placed first, second or third in the IISE South Central Regional Student Paper Competition six of the past eight years.
*John Deere Student Paper Competition - IEM students have placed first, second or third in three of the six years.

*The Tulsa students in MAE 4273 formed 6 teams and competed to design wind-powered LED that can operate at the lowest possible wind speed. They used a 3D printer to design and print the blades.
*The SAE Formula Car team built a car and participated in the annual FSAE Formula competition at the Michigan International Speedway.
*Polymer Team " Designed, built and tested an experimental apparatus to test a polymer injector to assess if it was degrading the polymer.
*Sheets Team " Conducted experiments in a water tunnel to examine the correlation between material and flow properties and the resulting flutter frequency.
*Step Teams " Two teams examined the flow features generated by a proprietary leading edge wing treatment that reduces drag for airplanes. Each team used a different step scaling approach to assess if there were any variations. These results were combined to assess the influence of the scaling.
*Water Tunnel Team " Fabricated a NACA airfoil that was mounted in a new custom-designed water tunnel. The wake behind the foil was measured using particle image velocimetry (PIV) to compare with established measurements to verify the performance of the water tunnel. In addition, a scaled model of the Speedfest Black Team plane was fabricated and tested in the water tunnel.
*Unmanned Aircraft - Senior design projects to develop and test unmanned aircraft for the following tasks:
search and rescue for people trapped in a building damaged by fire or earthquake; indoor inspection of a power plant boiler; system to detect and negate unauthorized drones from entering a restricted area, including military bases; unmanned aircraft to inspect outdoor power lines for damage and routine maintenance; long endurance hybrid quadrotor with capability to fly 4-6 hours; and development and testing of sensors for weather measurement.
*XHab " NASA funded senior design project to design, build and test deep space habitats for manned space explorations. Multidisciplinary teams in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, and architecture work with NASA engineers to design a system for a specific space mission, then build an Earth analog for testing.
*Design and testing of rocket nozzles using 3D printing.
*Development and testing of sterilization system using cold plasma.

*Associated Schools of Construction Region V competitions in Commercial Building, Design Build and Heavy Highway.
*Design Build Institute of America Student Competitions.
*Students also have design projects each spring in a Capstone class.

*Three ECE students were awarded 1st prize at the Rural Healthcare Innovation Weekend event.
*The Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), awarded five Certificates of Completion for the Roads Scholars Program.
*Five students were admitted to the graduate program at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. The Allen Scholars Program at OSU offers engineering students over $135,000 in scholarship and enrichment. Industry networking, study abroad, mentorship, an annual scholarship of $7500, plus full tuition and housing for a Master's degree at the University of Cambridge is all available to two new recipients each year.

*The unmanned aerial systems program at Oklahoma State University has been ranked the second best in the nation by Successful Student website in a ranking of the top 15 programs in the U.S.
*Seven of the Space Cowboys team are at the NASA Johnson Space Center’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory in Houston to conduct experiments to test concepts for future space flight. The OSU team, one of only a handful of university teams from across the nation selected for the testing, will investigate a tool designed by the team to capture samples from asteroids for potential use on future missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond.

*Regional Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge. OSU has the only collegiate Firefighter Combat Challenge Team in the nation. The two five-person teams competed against some of the best athletes in the country in what has been called "the toughest two minutes in sports." The Firefighter Combat Challenge was created to encourage fitness among firefighters in an effort to reduce cardiac events, the leading cause of firefighter Line of Duty Deaths (LODD).
*Health, Safety, Security and Environment competition in Denver.
