Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Beginning with the Fall 2013 admission cycle, all CSULB undergraduate majors become "impacted." As a result, all majors will have major specific admission and declaration requirements.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

As part of the campus-wide new admission criteria, the College of Engineering will have specific admission criteria. Students who meet the minimum requirements for the major, including a STEM "Eligibility Index," will be automatically declared into the major. Admission to STEM majors will be to a ‘pre-major’ status. Continuation in the major will be subject to meeting specific lower division course and GPA requirements at CSULB that indicate the student’s ability to succeed and complete the major.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Subject requirements are the same as resident students, with some exceptions. Foreign students are required to submit TOEFL scores and take an entrance English exam upon matriculation.

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

Subject requirements are the same as resident students; however, eligibility index (for first-time freshmen) and admission GPA (for transfer students) are slightly higher.
