Entrance Requirements and Recommendations


All freshman applicants are evaluated using standards determined by both the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and the University.

The entering freshmen class for the University for Fall 2015 had an average GPA of 3.59 and an average combined Critical Reading and Math SAT score of 1179. Freshmen students enrolled in the College of Engineering had an average GPA of 3.69 and an average combined Critical Reading and Math SAT score of 1221.

In order to fulfill minimum admissions requirements, freshmen applicants should have completed the following coursework at the college preparatory level or higher during high school:

Four years of English; Two years of social studies (including one year of U.S. history) ; Three years of mathematics-four years is recommend for Engineering applicants and students should have taken Algebra I and II, Geometry, and either Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus or Calculus; Two years of foreign language (in a single language); Three years of science (two with a lab)- four years is recommended for Engineering applicants with Chemistry and Physics being required courses;Two years of electives.
