Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Widener University reviews applications on a rolling basis and strives to provide an admissions decision within three weeks of receiving a completed application. Students must submit an application for admission (Online: free; Paper: $35 fee), an official high school transcript, a high school counselor evaluation, and official records of either SAT or ACT test scores. Laptop computers are awarded to qualified entering freshmen. Applicants are encouraged to submit activity and leadership resumes to be considered for special financial awards. Students applying to engineering are expected to have four units of math including pre-calculus, and four units of science courses including biology, chemistry and physics, four units of english, three units of humanities/social science, two units of foreign language and three units of electives. Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

If native language is not English, the student must have a TOEFL or IELTS score as proof of English language proficiency. A TOEFL score of 500 or higher on the PBT or a score of 75 or higher on the IBT with no individual score lower than 15 must be obtained. The minimum IELTS band score for admission is 6.5. International applicants attending an English language proficiency program in the United States at the time of their application are required to complete an online Math Placement Exam and score a level 3 or higher. This requirement is waived for international students who meet both the University requirements and the School of Engineering requirements for proficiency in mathematics and critical reading.
Must supply a $400 non-refundable deposit.
Must supply official documentation showing how they will cover the cost of their education.
Must supply bank certification demonstrating immediate availability of sufficient resources to cover all costs for the first year of study.

Residency Requirements

Must complete 50% of their major courses at Widener.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Cumulative GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 at the time of matriculation
Minimum of 12 transfer credits
In addition to the university requirements, transfer students from four-year or two-year accredited institutions must have completed at least one calculus course and one science course in chemistry, physics, or biology that is approved for transfer credit toward the graduation requirements in one of the engineering curricula.
