Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

To qualify for a Master's of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree, a student must have a bachelor's engineering degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited university in Canada or elsewhere, and must have a minimum 70% average in a four-year honours degree or equivalent from an accredited university (average based on last two years of the degree); Work experience is not mandatory, but applicants with work experience are given special consideration; Two letters of reference (preferably academic); English language proficiency; International students will need to apply at least six months prior to the start date of the desired term

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Applicants must have a minimum four year (or equivalent) undergraduate degree to apply to the Master of Engineering (MEng) or Master of Engineering Science (MESc) program.

Applicants must have a MESc degree to apply to the Doctor of Philosophy program (PhD). Direct entry to the PhD program from an undergraduate degree is only considered for exceptional students on a case-by-case basis.

Factors that are considered for admission include the applicant's background, publication record and industrial experience. The general admission average is based on The University of Western Ontario's grade scale that converts various institutional averages. Usually this average is based on full-time courses taken within the last two years of study. The minimum admission grade requirement is a B average.
