Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

The total number of credits required for graduation varies from 123 to 134 credits in the four-year program, depending on the student's major. Complete all course requirements (general education and major requirement) specified in a curriculum leading to a B. S. in Engineering degree. Complete a minimum of thirty semester credit hours in the student's major while enrolled in the School of Engineering at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Earn a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above on all credit hours taken in the student’s major. Earn a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above on all credit hours completed at Rutgers University.

Master's Degree Requirements

Master's with Thesis--GPA requirement: 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Credit hours required for degree: 30. Master's with Courses only-GPA requirement: 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Credit hours required for degree: 30 Note: The MS program in Biomedical Engineering requires 33 credits.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

GPA requirement: 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Credit hours required for degree: 72. Master's degree in engineering not required. Requirements vary with departments. Residency requirement: One year in full residence.
