Buffalo State is located in an urban setting with easy access to the many cultural and entertainment venues in downtown Buffalo. The College offers a wide variety of programs in the Applied Sciences and Education. The Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Programs are part of the Engineering Technology Department which also includes the Industrial Technology program.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Applicants should possess the equivalent of 12 years of elementary and secondary education, and must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language and the ability to meet the financial costs of attending college. A special booklet, "Information for New Students from Abroad", is available from the Admission Office and the International Student Affairs Office.

Residency Requirements

The student must complete 32 credit hours in residence, at least 18 of which must be in the student's major.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Admission is based on academic performance in college and on-space availability. A minimum GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 is necessary for consideration, although some programs are very competitive and will require a higher minimum GPA for admission. Transfer students with more than 30 credit hours must apply for and be admitted to specific programs. Those with 30 or fewer credit hours may apply for undeclared status. No student who is on academic probation at another institution or who has been academically dismissed in the past year will be accepted.
