Engineering Technology College Description and Special Characteristics

The Engineering Technology Program provides the upper two (junior and senior) years of a two-plus-two program for all programs. Students in the two-plus-two programs are admitted as juniors subsequent to earning an Associate in Applied Science degree elsewhere, usually at a two-year community college or technical institute. Additionally the College offers four-year programs in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technology. As of 2010, the department also offers Construction Management degrees. All programs are of an applied nature and are laboratory-intensive. Co-ops are optional for all programs. The department began two M.S. degree programs in the Fall of 2011 in Construction and Facilities Management and Fire Protection and Administration. The department also offers an M.S. in Applied Energy and Electromechanical Systems.

Finally, the College's Distance Education program in Electrical Engineering Technology is specifically designed to provide graduates of two-year associate degree programs the opportunity to continue their education at the baccalaureate level on a part-time basis via the internet.
