Entrance Requirements and Recommendations


Students possessing the aptitude and motivation to succeed at St. Mary’s are encouraged to apply for admission. A completed application includes:

• Completed Application Form
• Official High School Transcript
• Official SAT or ACT Scores
• Essay
• Written Recommendation

There is no application fee for students who apply online. Students who submit a paper application before January 15 receive the same benefit. After January 15, there is a $30 non-refundable application fee for those submitting a paper application. All applicants are considered for academic scholarships during the application review process.

St. Mary’s University has a rolling admission policy. However, priority is given to students who complete the application procedures in a timely manner.

Balanced consideration is given to all aspects of high school performance, including selection of college-preparatory courses, grade point average and grade pattern throughout high school, class rank, standardized test scores (SAT or ACT), and record of leadership and service. In recent years, nearly 90 percent of entering students graduated in the top half of their high school class.


Applicants who intend to study science and engineering are expected to have completed:
- 4 units mathematics
- 3 units laboratory science (one of which must be physics or chemistry)
