Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

The undergraduate engineering programs cover four years, but in five years a student may complete a dual degree in liberal arts and engineering with a major in each college. Each engineering program contains a minimum of eight courses in mathematics and natural sciences, five courses in humanities and social sciences, eight courses in engineering sciences, and four courses in design, systems, and synthesis. The remaining courses, depending upon the specific program, may be in the student's engineering discipline or in electives.

Master's Degree Requirements

A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is required of graduate students for all work attempted and must be attained upon completion of courses on the student's approved Program of Courses. No more than two courses of C or C+ work and no course with a grade of C- or below will be accepted toward the required number of courses for the master's degree. Any student who does not maintain a grade point average of 3.0 is subject to dismissal. A thesis, master's essay, or research/project report is required for all degrees and must be presented to the department at least three weeks before the last day of classes of the student's final semester.
