Research Description By Engineering Research Center

Center for Complex Network Research

The Center for Complex Network Research specializes in network science and conducts research related to biological networks, biophysics, complex networks, computer networks, controlling networks, econophysics, human dynamics, network dynamics, network medicine, social networks, and statistical mechanics

Center for Healthcare Organization Transformation

The Center for Healthcare Organization Transformation (CHOT) is a multi-university healthcare systems engineering research center to conduct applied research on solutions to problems of common interest throughout healthcare.

Center for High-Rate Nanomanufacturing

The NSF-funded Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing is a collaborative effort with core research partners linked above. Research falls into three categories: 1) Large scale directed assembly & transfer, 2) Environmental health & safety, and 3) Regulatory & ethical issues. Education & outreach programming is linked here and at partner institutions.

Center for Research Innovation

Northeastern University’s Center for Research Innovation (CRI) is an impact driven initiative bridging the gap between laboratory research and need-based solutions. The CRI serves as the University-wide portal between industry and leading-edge innovations from Northeastern’s use-inspired research portfolio.

Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems

Subsurface sensing and imaging, physics based signal processing and
image understanding, image and data information management

Kostas Institute for Homeland Security

The mission of the George J. Kostas Institute for Homeland Security is to advance the development of societal resilience in the face of 21st Century risks. The institute fosters a collaborative environment where multidisciplinary teams of academic and industry researchers interact closely with private and public sector practitioners. These teams undertake use-inspired research to develop practical and scalable tools and applications that expand the capacity of communities, critical systems, and infrastructure to withstand, respond to, recover from, and adapt to disruptive events.

Our facility offers a secure environment for innovative translational research and regularly convenes meetings for private and public sector practitioners in the fields of security and resilience from across New England, the United States, and the world.

PROTECT - Center for Healthcare Engineering

The Puerto Rico Testsite for Exploring Contamination Threats (PROTECT) Center is a collaboration of experts in engineering, public health, and biomedical and environmental sciences, with the dual goal of (1) reducing exposure to environmental contamination and (2) reducing the preterm birth rate in Puerto Rico and beyond. Our vision is that by joining the medical and engineering sciences in a seamless collaboration, the benefit and impact of our research program as a whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.

VOTERS - Center for Infrastructure Systems

Wave based sensing modalities, material science, system-level design, data information management, data processing
