Entrance Requirements and Recommendations

To be considered for admission to Boston University as an undergraduate, the Board of Admissions must receive a completed Boston University application, official test scores from either the College Scholarship Assessment Test I (SAT I) or ACT plus Writing, an official secondary school transcript, teacher and counselor recommendations, and an essay no longer than 500 words. A Midyear School Report is also required of freshman applicants and, if admitted, proof of secondary school graduation.
If English is not the primary language spoken in the home, or if English is not the student's native language, students must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System for non-native English speakers (IELTS).

The level and sequence of coursework in Math and Science is reviewed closely. Advanced mathematics such as calculus, and physics are the areas of particular interest to the Board of Admissions.
