Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

The degree of Bachelor of Science in the engineering specialties requires a minimum of 180 credits of academic work (excluding military science and physical education) and six terms of co-op or engineering experience. Transfer students must complete a minimum of four terms of industrial/engineering experience in order to earn a co-operative engineering degree accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Non-co-operative engineering degree options are available. Engineering students must maintain an overall grade point average of 2.0 in all required courses in their major.

Master's Degree Requirements

Completion of 45-48 approved quarter credits and Thesis/Non-Thesis Project; with or without Career Integrated Education Option. Required courses may include required core courses and electives.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

Ninety credits are required post-baccalaureate, and while the master's degree is not necessarily a prerequisite, it may count for 45 credits of the 90. The 45 credits of post-master's work usually consist of a combination of course requirements and research/dissertation work. A dissertation is required. All doctoral students are required by the University to take and pass a candidacy exam and dissertation defense. Full-time residency of at least one academic year (three consecutive full-time terms) is required.
