Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

Students must maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on all work attempted at the University, 2.5 GPA or higher in all 300 or above level courses in the student's major department, and at least 2.0 in all courses offered by the College. Depending on the major, 124-128 credits are required for graduation.

Master's Degree Requirements

Masters with Thesis: GPA requirement is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Credit hours required for degree is 24. Thesis may be completed in absentia. Student must complete all degree requirements within five years of initial enrollment. Masters without Thesis: GPA requirement is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Credit hours required for degree is 30. Approved dossier must be on file. Student must complete all degree requirements within five years of initial enrollment.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

GPA requirement: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 66 credit hours beyond Bachelors Degree required. Dissertation may be completed in absentia. No foreign language requirement. Residency requirement is satisfied by completing 9 or more graduate credits in two consecutive semesters or 6 or more graduate credits in each of three consecutive semesters, exclusive of summer sessions. A Qualifying Exam must be taken early in program to determine if candidate is qualified for doctoral level work. Students admitted to candidacy only after successful completion of Comprehensive Preliminary Examination is completed. The Comprehensive Preliminary Examination must be completed within seven years. All coursework must be completed prior to attaining Dissertator Status. All degree requirements must be completed within ten years from date of initial enrollment in the Doctoral Program.
