Entrance Requirements and Recommendations

Requirements

Undergraduates:
High School graduates must have a qualified eligibility index, have completed with grades of C or better in each of the courses in the comprehensive patterns of college preparatory subject requirements.

Transfer Students will qualify for admission in a non-impacted major if they have a GPA of 2.0 or better (2.4 for non-residents) in all transferable units attempted, are in good standing at the last college or university attended, have completed at least General Education (GE) English composition and GE mathematics courses with C or better, and meet the following criteria.

California State University, Fullerton does not accept lower division transfer applicants.

Upper Division (completed more than 60 transferable college units) students will have completed or will complete prior to transfer at least 30 semester units of coursework equivalent to GE requirements with a grade of C or better which must include all the GE requirements in communication in the English language and at least one course of at least 3 semester units required in college level mathematics or have completed the Intersegmental GE Transfer Curriculum including requirements in English communication and mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning.

California State University, Fullerton does not accept second bachelor's degree applicants with the exception to Nursing.

Graduates:
Postbaccalaureate applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree or its equivalent with a strong academic record and satisfactory TOEFL scores from an accredited institution may be considered for admission as a graduate student. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or another test may be required for conditionally classified admission or subsequently for the granting of classified standing. Test requirements vary from department to department.

All graduates applicants, regardless of citizenship whose preparatory education was principally in a language other than English must demonstrate competence in English. Those who do not posses a bachelor's degree from a post-secondary institution where English is the principal language of instruction must meet a satisfactory score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Verification of English Proficiency, financial resources, and academic performance are all considerations for international students. Academic records from foreign institutions must be on file at least 8 weeks before registration for the first term and if not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.
