Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

Established in 1849, the University of Missouri College of Engineering’s excellence includes nine disciplines, 130 faculty members, more than 3,300 of the brightest undergraduates on campus and more than 600 exceptional graduate students at the flagship campus of the UM System. With seven ABET-accredited departments, the College aims to educate the next generation of engineering leaders and drive the charge in research and education in several multi-disciplinary fields, including Big Data Analytics, Biomedical Innovations and Sustainability inFEWSed (Food, Energy, Water, Smart Cities). The College also includes two federally-funded research centers and more than 30 signature research programs and labs.

Located in the heart of Missouri, the College of Engineering at Mizzou operates the University of Missouri Research Reactor, one of the most powerful nuclear research reactors on a university campus nationwide. The College currently is under the leadership of Elizabeth G. Loboa, the first female dean in its history.
