Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Deadlines: December 1 - Deadline for Summer and Fall Freshman; Oct. 15 - Deadline for Spring Freshman;

$75.00 ($90.00 for International applicants) Application Fee (Non-Refundable) or fee waiver, and SAT or ACT scores are required of all freshman applicants.

Official High School Transcripts including grades and class rank, Official College Transcripts (if applicable), and Permanent Resident Card (if applicable) are also required.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

Students are admitted to The Dwight Look College of Engineering with a preference for the engineering major noted on the admissions application. Students are advised by the college of engineering and can follow the degree plan for their preferred major. During the first and second semesters, students have opportunities to learn more about the different engineering majors, thereby making a more informed decision when applying for entry to a major. Students can apply to a major as early as their second semester, provided they have taken two required math, science, and engineering courses from the entry to a major required coursework. Department decisions concerning entry-to-a-major applications are based upon performance at Texas A&M University and an essay about interest. Students must be accepted into a major by their fourth semester or have an approved appeal to remain in the college of engineering.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Deadlines: Fall deadline - December 1, Spring deadline - August 1.

$90 (non refundable), official high school transcript (if it is in a language other than English, must be accompanied by official English translation), TOEFL score of 550 paper based test or 80 internet based test or IELTS with a 6.0 overall band score or SAT critical reading of 500 or ACT English of 21 for non English speaking students.

Residency Requirements

Candidates for the baccalaureate degree in the Look College must complete a minimum of 36 semester hours of 300 and / or 400 level course work, with a minimum of 12 of these course hours in the major, in residence at Texas A&M University to qualify for a baccalaureate degree.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

The entire ApplyTexas application including essay topic A, $75 application processing fee (non-refundable) or fee waiver, official college transcript(s) from all institutions previously attended, and permanent resident card (if applicable) are required. Transfer applicants must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA) on at least 24 graded semester hours of transferable course work at the time of the application. Transfer admission GPA requirements vary by major, with the majority exceeding the minimum requirements for transfer admission consideration to Texas A&M. Transfer admission course requirements may also vary by major. Transfer admission decisions are made by the college/major to which they have applied.
