Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

Solid Theory with a Hands-On Approach:

The School of Engineering at the University of Bridgeport (UB) serves as an educational resource in the sciences, engineering, technology, and design fields. We provide outstanding educational opportunities to students, the companies that hire them, and various other institutions in Bridgeport and the surrounding region, the United States, and all parts of the world.

UB is a 21st-century, high-tech hub and learning center for people who want to master the latest technologies. It also serves as a research and development think tank for new ventures in the emerging world of e-commerce and computer-aided solutions.

The School of Engineering at the University of Bridgeport is the only school in Fairfield County, Connecticut, to offer accredited masters and Ph.D. programs in computer science and computer engineering. In addition, we offer an ABET-accredited bachelors degree in computer and electrical engineering and a B.S. degree in computer science and mechanical engineering. Course offerings combine theory with practical, hands-on experience, using the most recent cutting-edge technologies, from robotics and automation, micro and nano electro-mechanical systems to network applications and software engineering.

Days and evenings, part-time and full-time courses are offered at the main campus in Bridgeport and also via on-line distance learning. The distance learning programs in Computer Science and Technology Management are unique. No other university in the greater metropolitan area offers Master of Science degrees in Engineering or in Computer Science via distance learning.

Our goal is to give students the skills and tools they will need to hit the ground running in the constantly changing technology and
e-commerce based "flat" world.

The world may be shrinking, but opportunities are growing in engineering. The University of Bridgeports School of Engineering is uniquely qualified to launch students into the forefront of the new technology-driven workplace. We are both an education provider and a global knowledge resource for students and companies all over the world, focusing on design, engineering, and technical project management and all the while promoting creativity and emphasizing a team approach to problem solving.

We offer masters degree programs in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technology Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and the Ph.D. programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Technology Management.

Programs in these areas are highly interdisciplinary, allowing students to select courses across all six curricula. We have engineered our programs around students. Courses are conveniently scheduled in day and evening formats and via distance learning. Our goal is to provide students with the tools and skills to design their future and engineer their success.
