The Race to Zero is an annual competition, open to students and faculty from any interested collegiate institution. The mandatory performance target is the DOE Zero Energy Ready Home specification.

The H2U Student Design Contest challenges university students national to design various hydrogren projects sponsered by the Nation Hydrogen Association (NHA).

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Solar Regatta is a nation wide event where schools, universities, and engineering companies compete in a solar powered boat race.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Water Treatment Competition engages students in water quality analysis where engineering practices and critical thinking must be used to design effective techniques to solve common water quality problems.

North Coast Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) sponsors a design competition. The design problem is usually a local environmental engineering challenge. Cash prizes are awarded to the top 3 design teams.
